Welcome to Odyssey!
Campbell County provides services for identified gifted learners in grades K-5 through a combination of resource classroom instruction supported by a specialist in gifted education and in-class differentiation supported by the regular classroom teacher.
Odyssey Program Overview
Grades K–2: Schoolwide Enrichment Model
At the K–2 level, the Schoolwide Enrichment Model provides engaging learning opportunities for all students. Odyssey instructors collaborate and co-teach with classroom teachers to extend and enrich grade-level content. Lessons are hands-on, exploratory, and designed to spark students’ natural curiosity about the topics they are already learning. A strong emphasis on STEM encourages problem-solving, creativity, and innovation at an early age.
Grades 3–5: Gifted Resource Services
Identified gifted students have unique social, emotional, and intellectual needs. In grades 3–5, Odyssey instructors provide weekly resource services designed to nurture and challenge these learners. Students engage in rigorous STEM experiences and explore real-world problems through meaningful application and solution design. Instruction intentionally integrates Campbell County’s 5 Cs — collaboration, communication, creativity, critical thinking, and citizenship — to develop both academic excellence and well-rounded learners.
Eligibility
Eligibility for the program is dependent upon many factors, but it begins with a referral. Teachers examine classroom data and the characteristics of gifted learners and make referrals to the program. Parents can also make referrals and request that their child be considered for the program. For more information about the referral process, please visit Campbell County’s Gifted Instruction home page.
